Progress development Technical Expert

We are looking to onboard a Progress OpenEdge technical expert to augment our cross domain Progress technical team.

As a technical expert you will help improve our in-house built legacy ERP application.

You will do this by suggesting and implementing technical improvements, but also by enabling an SRE mindset within our product team developers.

• Take responsibility for the development and continuous improvement of both applications and the development teams and their best practices.

• Using your technical expertise you assess the feasibility and ROI of proposed improvements.

• Proactively you advise and recommend technical improvements.

• Progress development is your main expertise but you can expand your scope to other technologies (e.g. Java or .NET). 

• You take responsibility and solve incidents and problems across domains and are continuously on the lookout for improvements of applications and processes.

• Your technical prowess will be vital in driving improvements, recommending technical enhancements, and guiding both junior and senior developers to excellence.

• Relevant bachelor's degree or equal by experience.

• A good spoken and written knowledge of English.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.  

• Minimum of 10 years experience with Progress OpenEdge (11.7 & later) development

• A strong analytical mind.

• An accurate, methodical and systematic way of working.

• A customer-oriented attitude.

• Able to work in a team as well as independent.

• A proactive approach focused on problem solving. 

• Good understanding of REST.

• Experience with working in an Agile way.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform , ArgoCD, Kong, Gitlab, SVN, Jenkins, ELK, Grafana, Kafka, Akeyless.

• Experience with Linux/Unix and with open-source databases (postgresql)

• Experience with test driven development, CI/CD environments.
